Despite all of that, the holidays can actually be quite stressful for some. Let’s face it... we could all use some help when it comes to better preparing for the holidays. The stress of the jam-packed malls, preparing meals for large groups, and getting the house decorated for everyone to admire requires a lot of time and energy. But hosting holiday parties shouldn’t feel like a chore, quite the opposite actually. The holidays are a time where families come together and can enjoy being around one another. A time of year where families can reconnect and remember what is truly important.

So how can you prepare ahead of time to make the holidays less stressful? Here are three tips to help you and your family prepare for this upcoming holiday season!

Shop early!  If you cannot stand the thought of being stuck in a crowded mall trying to get last minute holiday shopping done, than get it over with early!

Preparing a list ahead of time of items you need to shop for and what you need to look for will help you go into holiday shopping with some confidence. Although this requires planning in advance, having the satisfaction of knowing that you have completed all of your holiday shopping before the extreme crowds will take a giant load off your shoulders! Phew!

And if that still doesn’t work, online shopping is a great way to purchase small stocking stuffer items like our Disney D-Lectables and Honua Bracelets.

Get the children involved! What better way to help with the ever-growing list of tasks that comes with the holidays than getting the children involved. Instead of shuffling the children off to the play room or finding them a quiet place to sit, there are many areas that they can be involved in. Whether you use them in the kitchen or to help with the decorating around the house, getting the children involved can be a huge help. Not only will you be benefiting from the extra help, this can also provide the children with a sense of responsibility and reinforce valuable lessons.

Plan a menu ahead of time! Although this seems like a no brainer, having your meals planned and prepared ahead of time is an easy way to manage holiday stress. Think about everything you’d like to serve and decide early on whether or not you want your guests to bring a dish to share should any parties arise. Not only will this help with the amount of cooking you need to do, it will also help cut down on much needed space in the kitchen. Knowing what you need and how you are going to prepare it is the best way to ensure a great tasting holiday meal!
