4 Holiday Games to Play this Winter!

Share

No doubt about it, we’re right in the middle of the holiday season –and it is glorious. Decorations on every corner and in every window, festive music on the radio, and we can all wear sweaters and jackets without having to worry about taking them off as soon as the sun comes out. It’s the holidays, and everything seems just a little bit jollier all around.

To continue the holiday momentum as well as keep your family and loved ones busy, here are four of our favorite holiday games to play! Number 3 is our personal favorite, so take a look!

Mistletoe shootout! Looking for an activity to take out all that pent up holiday aggression? Well now you can with this point and shoot game involving pit balls, launchers and a ball of mistletoe!

-

-

-

This game is similar to our “Sticky Spider Web” Halloween game, but this time with a festive Holiday twist. Grab your PopZooka Pit Ball Shooters or even your Kiddy Up Pit Ball Cannon and after loosely hanging a ball of Mistletoe from the top and center of a clear doorway, have your players aim…get set…and fire away!

-

-

-

Have your players on both sides of the door way so that when someone misses their launched pit ball, the other plays can catch or pick up their misfired shot and shoot –it keeps the game going! Victory belongs to the player who successfully knocks down the ball of mistletoe that hangs from the doorway.

Celebrate with a well deserved holiday cookie!

Reindeer Boot Camp! We got this fantastic idea from the lovely website of TheInspiredTreeHouse.com and can’t wait to try it out. The idea here is to make a sort of relay race all themed after the holidays, and it’s perfect for little ones! Lauren of TheInspiredTreeHouse.com sets it up as a relay with 6 different stages, so you can have each little one participate in every stage, or hand off a stage to everyone individually –it’s up to you!

There is a balance beam activity (which can be as simple as a strip of colored tape on the floor), an obstacle weave that the little ones must dart back and forth through and between, a bean bag tossing accuracy game, and more! Your little ones will certainly go crazy for the variety of games that make up this holiday themed obstacle course. We know we did!

Plastic Wrap Prize Ball! This is a guaranteed crowd pleaser for players of all ages. You get an assortment of small prizes that varies from a dollar bill to candy to crayons --and you wrap all of it (yup! ALL of it) in tight plastic wrap. You wrap them layer after layer after layer until you have a massive ball of plastic wrap with your prizes located on different levels all the way through your large plastic ball, but your big prize (perhaps a bigger dollar bill or king sized candy bar) is sitting at the very center!

The idea of this game is that everyone who plays gets at least a little something. You separate your players into teams with multiple players each and then set a timer for a short amount of time. Once the timer begins, your first player works to unravel the entire ball as fast as they can within the time limit, but they won’t get very far due to the sticky nature of the plastic and the short time limit!

-

-

-

The timer goes off and anything that fell off of the ball is theirs to keep, but they must pass the ball onto their teammate to continue unraveling. The ball circulates around each team until the center prize is reached and won. It’s like a game of hot potato, but this time you want to be the one to have their hands on the ball when it’s all over!

If you stuff your plastic wrap ball full of prizes evenly throughout, everybody is a winner!

Christmas Sweets Safari! This is a game that is bound to get your little ones riled up with excitement. You get your hands on an assortment of candy canes, holiday colored M&M’s and any other sweets you can think of –and then you hide them all around the house! But before you send your little ones off to go and hunt for the treats, you first give them a set of clues and riddles telling them in a very puzzling way where exactly the specific treats are hidden in the house!

-

-

-

Hide a candy cane in the hall closet, in the kitchen cabinet, under their pillow, in their snow boots …everywhere! Anywhere you place a sweet, add its location to the list of places to describe in a riddle for each of your little ones to find!

-

-

-

Get the older kids in on the action too by having each child find only their specific color coded candy canes! The oldest looks for the red and white candy canes, the middle child looks for the red and green, and the youngest searches for the yellow and red….you get the idea. Get the whole family involved in the hunt!
