Have a Ball with these Kiddy Up Pit Ball Halloween Costume Ideas!

Share

It doesn’t matter how old you are –you’re going to want to jump into a ball pit whenever you see one. Although we must compose ourselves as adults and let the little ones take part in the pleasure, we still secretly want to always join in on the fun.

Although our days of swimming in ball pits may be over, it is worth noting that pit balls are for far more than just diving into. Now that Halloween is coming up, we thought we would save you some time and help you come up with some pretty stellar Halloween costumes based only on the use of pit balls.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to have a ball with this year’s Halloween costumes!

A Bag of Jelly Beans! This is a costume that you can’t help but find absolutely adorable. What’s cuter than the smile of your little one? The smile of your little one dressed up as a bag of adorable jelly beans, that’s what! We found this stellar and ultra simple idea from Leah Letherby of the TheSitsGirls.com blog, and we are in love with how adorable it is.

What you’ll need:

A clear trash bag

KiddyUp Pit balls

A big ‘ol smile. (Optional)

This costume is easier to make and wear than it looks. Get out your large and transparent trash bag and open it up all the way so that it is inflated and laid out. The mouth of the bag will serve as the “neck hole,” so choosing a bag with a cinch at the top is best so that it can be adjusted and the opening can be made smaller or larger for whoever is wearing it. Cut arm holes and two small leg holes in the sides and bottom of the bag (be sure to make them small enough that the balls won’t fall out!).

Once they are inside and with their arms and legs through the holes, drop in your pit balls from above (not too many or it will be too heavy!). Once the desired amount of “jelly beans” has been achieved, adjust the top of the bag to close the top up around their shoulders. Tie it closed or wrap and knot it tight enough to stay put and still be comfortable.||

Kid in a Ball Pit! We came across this amazing idea while on RealSimple.com and immediately fell in love, and not just because we love anything having to do with pit balls. This idea is simple, easy to make, and looks absolutely adorable when worn! All you need is pit balls and a laundry basket!

What you’ll need:

A small and round laundry basket

A shirt, sweater or top that will be worn (An old one you don’t mind losing is best, since it will be glued to the laundry basket)

KiddyUp Pit balls (The source recommends as many as 50 balls)

Glue (such as from a hot glue gun)

|

To make this one, take your laundry basket and cut out a hole in the bottom that is about the size of the waist of the intended costume wearer. Next, pull the shirt or long sleeve sweater that will be worn through the hole you just cut. Glue the bottom of the shirt or sweater you just pulled through to the bottom of the laundry basket, as this seals the balls from escaping when your little one slips into the costume and wears it.

Once the gluing of the garments is done, have your little pit ball monster slip into the shirt or sweater so that they are “wearing” the laundry basket. Simply dump in and spread around your KiddyUp pit balls and you are all set to party and play –at the same time!

Head over to RealSimple.com for a filled out list of materials and tips on this one. Needless to say, we love this one. A lot.

A Gumball Machine! This is a fun one that we recommend if your little one is opposed to being a bag of jelly beans. Some people just don’t like jelly beans and that’s okay –so that’s where this cute gumball machine comes in! Although we could not find the original poster of this idea, we found that this particular costume is a party favorite every time!

What you’ll need:

A heavy duty clear trash bag

Red felt to wrap around the waist or just red pants

A red cap

KiddyUp pit balls

|

The easiest way to make this costume a reality would be to recreate the costume of the bag of jelly beans, but keeping the bag a little tighter and closer to the body of the costumer wearer, and having them wear red pants and a red hat to recreate the classic gumball machine look!

A Bunch o’ Grapes or any other Berry! For those who love fruit, you’ll be happy to know that you really are what you eat with this berry themed costume! Pick your favorite kind of grape or berry from green, purple, and red and using KiddyUp pit balls of the same color, and simply glue them to your clothes to make yourself into a bunch of grapes or a giant berry!

What you’ll need:

Solid colored shirt and pants

A brown or green cap

KiddyUp pit balls (you can also use balloons!)

Glue (such as from a hot glue gun)

|

Although the image we used features balloons, you can also use your KiddyUp pit balls as well to recreate your favorite juicy fruit. First you are going to want to pick out your desired color of grape or berry, be it purple, green, or red, blue, or a mix to create a raspberry or boysenberry.

Once decided, sort and pull out all of the pit balls of your desired color to be used as the “grapes” or “berries”. Once set aside, prepare your solid colored shirt and pants and be sure to have them match the desired color of the grape or berry you wish to become.

To attach the KiddyUp pit balls, the easiest way to attach them is through hot glue gun. If you are using the hot glue gun to attach them, glue the pit balls onto the clothing before you attempt to put it on to wear (it’s called a hot glue gun for a reason). One at a time, glue and stick all the pit balls onto the clothing until it is covered with a layer of pit balls.

Once glued, carefully slip inside, put on your brown cap (it’s supposed to be the “vine” or “stem” of the fruit) and you are ready to go! For an extra level of authenticity, you can paint your face to match the color of grape or berry you are dressed as!
